Description
The flame is one of the symbols of the Olympic Games. The idea originated in ancient Greece, where the flame was kept going until the games were completed. The torch on this sign represents a stylized version of the flame. It advertises the entrance to the Los Angeles Coliseum and Sports Arena which adjoins the USC campus. Los Angeles has hosted two Olympic Games, one in 1932 and the other in 1984.
