Description
In 1782, Mission San Buenaventura ( or simply Mission Ventura) became the 9th California mission founded by Father Serra. The plan was to expand Spanish rule and to bring religion to the native Americans. This image was taken from inside the mission gardens and shows bell tower against the sky. The domed tower is painted with stripes and has a cross on its top.
