Description
This traditional-style schist-stone bridge, called the Gapstow Bridge, spans the northeast end of the pond in Central Park in New York City. The arched bridge was designed by Howard and Caudwell in 1896. It replaces the original bridge built by Jacob Wrey Mould in 1874. This historical bridge has been used in many films. It is 76 feet long and has a 12 foot high arch that spans 44 feet. Depending on the angle of view, you can see a perfect reflection of the arch in the water.
