Description
I was standing on top of the cliff at Dinosaur Cave Park in Shell Beach, California when I noticed some kayakers below. I had a bird's eye view of this sportsman as he paddled by. The massive size of the rocky coastline dwarfed him. From the top of the cliffs, you have a good view from the pier of Pismo Beach to Point Sal. Shell Beach is an unincorporated area of Pismo Beach; it is a popular place to kayak because of the sea caves. The park got its name from a huge cement dinosaur that was built in the 1940's. The attraction was never completed, as the beast lacked a head. As a kid, I loved going down the tunnel-like trail in the dinosaur's tail. It lead to an underground cavern that was open to the sea. As the years went by, the cave collapsed. Eventually, the dinosaur was torn down.
