Description
The State Theater, in Austin Texas, was built in 1935 as a motion picture theater. The building and its iconic neon sign are in the art deco style. The city of Austin bought the theater in 1986. Located just a few blocks from the state capitol on Congress Avenue, the structure underwent extensive renovations in 1998. Along with its neighbor, the Paramount, it has once again become a center for movies and live entertainment in the downtown area.
