Description
Along the Pacific coast, south of Big Sur and just north of San Simeon California, you will find the rocky shores of Piedras Blancos. This area is home to the Piedras Blancas Lighthouse and a large colony of Elephant seals, which come to shore to rest, molt and breed on the beach below the lighthouse. Piedras Blancas, which means white rocks in Spanish, was named by Spanish explorers. You can see the iconic white rocks in the background. However, just as treacherous, are the dark jagged rocks along the shore.
