The legendary Pacific Coast Highway, hugs the ocean just below San Francisco and travels through many quaint beach towns. Six counties make up the central coast of California. The northern portion includes Monterey, San Benito, Santa Cruz, and San Luis Obispo Counties. Here you will find Half Moon Bay, home to the "Big Waves". Traveling south, are the towns of Santa Cruz, Monterey, Carmel-by-the-Sea, the redwoods of Big Sur, and many other small coastal towns. Several historic Spanish missions can also be found in this area of California. Inland roads take you to wine county and the rock formations of Pinnacles National Park.
