Description
Two old, faded Farmall tractors sit in front of a brick barn in Mason, Texas. These vintage machines were produced by International Harvester from the 1920's through the 1970's. Originally, they replaced a team of horses for plowing and other jobs around a spread. Farmers loved them because they were light-weight and could used for general work around their small farms. As time went on, the numbers of these tractors decreased as new herbal weed controls were developed. There was also a trend towards larger and fewer farms instead of small family farms. You can still see some of the vintage machines today, especially on small organic farms. Many of the tractors are restored and collected.
