Description
This bald cypress seemed to be the perfect climbing tree for kids during our visit to the historical Wilder Ranch State Park, outside of Santa Cruz, California. It has multiple branches which seem to errupt from the ground, This tree was brought to the ranch from the Pacific Northwest. Bald cypress trees are decidious conifers and can reach a height of up to 120 feet tall. They drop their fern-like leaves early in the season, which is why they are called "bald". They are rot resistant and slow growing, and can live up to 600 years. I think this one might be more than one tree, However, some cypress trees that grow in swamps are multi-trunked with knees and limbs protruding up from the ground.
