Description
The Globe is a historic theater in the Theater District of downtown Los Angeles. It was built in 1913 as an elegant playhouse for dramatic performances. The theater is in Beaux Arts architectural style. The luxurious interior featured an area for an orchestra, a grand marble staircase, doubled tiered balconies, and seating for patrons on the hefty side. The Globe was owned by several theaters. Over time, it underwent many renovations, eventually ending up as a third-rate house, as a swap meet, and housed retail shops in its lobby. The theater finally closed down in 1986. New renovations were started in 2014, leading to a nightclub opening in 2015. It is now also rented out as a film facility.
This image was taken during the pandemic so the saying on the marquee is in reference to that.
